“Meat Made Easy: A Tasty and Transformative Guide to the Carnivore Lifestyle”

I’ve seen several books on the Carnivore diet (read one) but was afraid to try it because I was afraid of anything high carb or high protein. I’ve lost nearly 60 pounds in the last year so I’m being very careful with my diet moving forward.

After exploring various resources on the carnivore diet, I came across The Easy Carnivore Diet Bible, and it has been a helpful addition to my senior health journey. The book offers a comprehensive collection of recipes that are both diverse and easy to prepare, making the transition to a meat-based diet seamless. The inclusion of seafood dishes adds a refreshing variety, catering to different palates and ensuring that meals remain exciting.  I particularly like salmon and turkey meat which is low-calorie and low-carb to an extent.

The diet helps with chronic inflammation which luckily isn’t a symptom that I’ve experienced although digestion has been a major problem after six months of semaglutide for weight loss which wrecked my digestion.

One of the standout features of this book is its educational content. The author starts out the book by listing 20 benefits to the diet which opened my eyes and took away the fear of high carbs and high protein. It delves into the principles of the carnivore diet, providing insights into its benefits and practical tips for implementation. It covers health issues like skin problems, sleep quality, weight loss, gut health and immune support. This information has been invaluable for me in understanding the diet’s impact on digestive health and energy levels. It even has a section on 16 common myths of the carnivore diet and helped to relieve my apprehension.

The recipes are well-structured, with clear instructions that make cooking straightforward, even for those, like me, who are new to this dietary approach. The variety ranges from quick, budget-friendly meals to more elaborate dishes suitable for special occasions. This versatility ensures that the diet is sustainable and enjoyable in the long term.

While the book excels in many areas, it could benefit from more visual aids, such as photographs of the finished dishes, to guide presentation and inspire creativity.

I liked the put-your-toe-in-the-water-first approach by the author in laying out the first four weeks of meal plans in a detailed and considerate way considering the diet is for beginners. Some of the recipes in this section were still a little too high calorie for me but the Grilled Chicken Breast and Scrambled Eggs with Beef Liver are both under 400 calories.  I generally shy away from anything over 400 calories after losing nearly 60 pounds and still quite fearful about eating anything that puts the slightest amount of weight on me.

Breakfast is my main meal of the day and the chapter on Nutritious Breakfasts didn’t disappoint. The Omelet with Ham and Cheese and Bacon and Soda Rolls are a goto choice of lower calorie breakfasts.

I carefully searched through the dinner recipes for ones with lower calories and found the Pan Seared Scallops with Bacon and my goto favorite Baked Salmon.

The section on Approved Snacks has recipes like hard-boiled eggs and pork rinds and have low calorie content. The subsection on Low Carb Desserts is also helpful for people like me with recipes like creamy delight Vanilla Panna Cotta, Peanut Butter Cups and Dark Chocolate Mousse.

Interestingly enough, a supplemental chapter on exercise is included and seemed a bit out of place to me yet the content is spot on and even includes a weekly exercise schedule.

Overall, The Easy Carnivore Diet Bible is a valuable resource for anyone interested in exploring the carnivore lifestyle. The end of the book has a section on testimonials which are good confidence builders. The book’s blend of informative content and practical recipes makes it a worthwhile addition to any health-conscious individual’s library.
